NIGS URA participates at the 2024 ISROC Field School in St. Croix, US Virgin Islands

Mr. Lyndon Nawanao Jr, a University Research Associate at NIGS and an MS Geology student, was one of the full-travel grant recipients who participated in the first Inundation Signatures on Rocky Coastlines (ISROC) Field School last 27-30 May 2024 in St. Croix, US Virgin Islands. The ISROC Network funded by the US National Science Foundation (NSF) aims to gather researchers from around the world to understand coastal boulder deposits (CBD) and extreme wave events (storms and tsunamis).  A total of 25 participants from 17 universities participated with four field school leaders who specialized in extreme wave events and coastal geomorphology. The coastal areas in St Croix serve as the lecture room for coastal geomorphology, 3D boulder modeling, and coral reef systems.
