The National Institute of Geological Sciences actively participated in the Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill conducted last 08 June 2023. During the drill, all faculty, staff, researchers, students, and building attendants followed the DROP-COVER-HOLD procedure. They shielded their heads with their hands, quickly made their way to the nearest exit, and gathered at the designated evacuation area.

The NSED at NIGS was facilitated by the OIC Deputy Directors, University Research Associates, and administrative personnel. Representatives from the UP Resilience Institute were also present to observe the evacuation procedure.
