UP Cwm Zena’na

44th Anniversary of UP Cwm Zena'na

For its 44th celebration, the members put together, Effloresce: Blooming in the Arms of Sisterhood as the overall theme, and prepared various activities for both people within and outside the organization.

Outreach - The first part of the anniversary initiatives was dedicated to giving back to a chosen community. The outreach program titled, “Rockin’ Explorers Adventure”, was conducted on December 17, 2023, in Pook Aguinaldo Basketball Court, Community Learning Hub, UP Diliman, Quezon City. The program includes a geological discussion, various games, and loot bags for 50+ children. With the organization’s partnership with GeoSpec, Bayan ni Juan Movement, and Canvas, we were able to provide canned goods, snacks, hygiene products, and “Karapat Dapat” books to the community.

The organization brought back the monthly recognition of selected alumnae and their achievements. This is to celebrate the contributions of women in science and society, particularly those of our sisses.

Women's Month

We dedicate this month to recognizing the achievements of women, raising awareness about their challenges, and promoting gender equality during the annual commemoration of International Women’s History Month. For this year, the organization laid out four activities throughout the month to celebrate women all around the world and raise awareness.

Self-Defense Workshop - The first of the Women’s Month Initiatives is the Self-Defense Workshop. The workshop, titled “EmpowHER" was conducted on Women's Day March 8, 2024, in the NIGS Building, UP Diliman, Quezon City. The program included a brief discussion on awareness and tips regarding such threatening situations. Modules were physically taught to the participants and simulations were done to practice the basic steps for self-defense.

Gift-Giving Initiative - Every Women's Day on the 8th of March, it's been customary for the organization to give back to their fellow women. This year, napkin holders, alcohol spray bottles, stickers, as well as flyers for the self-defense workshop were distributed to females within the College of Science Complex. This was done as a small token of appreciation for inspiring us every day with their strength, resilience, and dedication to building a better world.
