NIGS in KaSCIyahan 2023: Traveling Across Orbits and Breaking the Limits

After 2 years, KaSCIyahan is back in 2023 with the theme Orion: Breaking the Limits, an annual sports event organized by the College of Science Student Council. The event is running from February to March 2023, filled with a variety of sports and performance competitions held amongst the College of Science Admin and 8 institutes, including the National Institute of Geological Sciences (NIGS).

With this, NIGS students, faculty, and alumni work together to raise the institute’s banner as they compete for the championship against 8 other teams. Among the competitions that the institute has participated in are the Institute Flag and Logo competition, Pep Rally Institute Mascot Performance, and various sports – both on-site and online – such as the 100-m dash, volleyball, basketball, football, ultimate frisbee, tug-of-war, badminton, table tennis, mobile legends, blitz chess, and snakes and ladders. So far, the institute has placed first in the tug-of-war competition, second in 100-m dash, third in volleyball and badminton, and fourth in football.

As the event nears its end, only a few competitions and matches among sports teams are left to be conducted. With this, the Awarding Ceremony along with the Cheerdance Competition has already been scheduled on the 1st of April, 2023. This marks the culmination of the organizers' and players' dedicated efforts to make the event a reality and a success.
