Associate Professor Dr. Jillian Aira Gabo-Ratio and Professor Dr. Mario Aurelio of UP NIGS received the “2024 HAYAG: Pagpupugay sa Lingkod Bayan Award”, in recognition of their outstanding contributions in advancing the core values of the University of the Philippines - Karangalan at Kahusayan sa Paglilingkod para sa Bayan (Honor and Excellence in the Service of the Nation).
The award is granted to UP faculty, staff, and students who have received national or international recognition in the past two years. Dr. Gabo-Ratio received the 2023 Outstanding Young Scientist Award from the National Academy of Science and Technology (NAST), while Dr. Aurelio was a recipient of the 2022 Gregorio Y. Zara Award for Basic Research from the Philippine Association for the Advancement of Science and Technology (PhilAAST).
As part of the week-long celebration of the 116th founding anniversary of the University of the Philippines, the awarding ceremonies were held by the UP Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs at the UP Bahay Ng Alumni, UP Diliman, on 13 June 2024.
